“Ignoring food when you have surplus and appetite, to deal in weightier matters of the soul, this is what it means to fast”
― Oluseyi Akinbami
Many people have used fasting for spiritual purposes throughout the years. Growing up in a Christian household, fasting was a regular practice for my parents and members of our church community. However, it wasn’t something I engaged in or took serious. As I grew older I found myself breaking away from Christian beliefs and practices that were forced on me and started focusing on an individual, spiritual path of becoming more in tune with God and nature in general. Given everything that I’ve been through recently (feel free to read my blogs regarding my journey) I finally got to a place in my journey in which I recently decided to start the journey of fasting for spiritual benefits and wellbeing and feel it would be important for me to write about my thoughts and experiences as I take this journey.
If any of you have ever fasted for spiritual purposes I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences regarding it. Feel free to drop your comments and share 🙂
